Epilogue
This work is dedicated to all the people who wish for a peaceful life.
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful river surrounded by roses.
Due to the roses surrounding the river it was called the Rose River and was very much loved by the people.
The water was so clear that the beautiful fish and the bottom were clearly seen.
And the beautiful orange sunset streak reflecting on the water looked as if it was the way toward heaven.
Beside the river a white piano was placed, and anyone could play it.
A beautiful young boy named Andrey who lived nearby loved to play it.
He was a kind-hearted person and had a wonderful skill.
His performance was so elegant and sweet that it was said that it could even sooth the souls of animals and plants.
Whenever he played the piano, various animals, such as foxes, goats, ponies, and squirrels came to listen to his performance from all around .
One day, when he was playing the piano as usual, a beautiful swan came down from the distance to the river being chased by an eagle.
He ran up to her and embraced her.
She looked sad and lonely.
And, she had somehow burned the wings.
Said he,
-I don't know where you came from, but I'll always be by your side.
-Let's have a happy life together.
She weakly nodded.
He named her Nadia after his old lover and he also fed her and played the piano every day for her so she would get well soon.
Nadia seemed to get well day by day, which made him feel relieved.
However, on a stormy night, she fell down into the water.
Worried, he jumped into the cold water then saved her life.
He caressed her head gently wondering what happened to her.
She looked really sad and exhausted.
Then, suddenly she talked and confessed that she had been a human girl before.
That suprised him but what suprised him the most was the story she told him.
-One day, a war broke out in my country.
-It was really scary.
-To escape from a fire made by one of the attacks I wished upon a star for help.
-Surprisingly, it was an angel who came to save me.
-He said that he could no longer stand to see innocent children get hurt by barbaric humans in a sad tone.
-He gave his wings to me and turned me into a swan in response to my wish to be able to escape, because those barbaric people might kill me if I was seen in my human form.
-He gave me a silver locket pendant as well then said in a gentle tone.
-'When everything is safe, open it and remember your happy days .
You'll turn into a girl again. '
-'If you want to live as a swan in peace, that's also fine, please throw away the pendant.'
- 'Your memory as a human will be lost in 1 week from the day you throw it.'
-I didn't know which one was better, but I lost my pendant and 6 days have already passed.
-Today is the last day to find it.
-Day by day I'm losing my memory.
Now, I can't even remember the face of my old lover whom I wanted to see one more time.
-I want to live as a human and see him.
-If not, at least, I want to know if he is safe.
-Please help me.
She begged.
He promised he would help her.
He thought she had dropped it when she was trying to avoid the eagle near the river.
Luckily, soon he found it.
But, it was burnt and broken, and there was nothing inside.
She despaired to see that and burst into tears.
He said kindly and silently while drying her tears.
-I'll always be by your side.
-Please take a rest in my room.
-I will find something symbolizing to make you remember your happy days instead of your pendant tonight.
He was determined and decided to find that something in a dark forest where he had never entered before.
However, he thought hard.
-Is it a happy thing to live as a human?
-Humans repeat wars.
-Humans keep creating sadness and hatred over and over again.
He was a refugee.
He also had gone through many hardships during a war and had left his country.
His dream had been to become a pianist and bring happiness to people with his performance.
But, it didn't come true and even his love was missing because of the war.
He also wanted to see his old lover very much.
Thousands of stars were twinkling in the night sky.
Above all, 3 stars, Altair, Deneb, and Vega were strongly sparkling.
They were called the Summer Triangles, and each formed a part of 3 different constellations,
called Aquila, Cygnus, and Lyra, respectively
It was as if angels were watching over him silently from the sky.
He wandered about the forest while thinking hard.
Having heard the sound of water, he went closer to it, and encountered an old rose garden.
At the center, there was a fountain and a beautiful blue rose was floating in the water.
He picked it up gently.
As if it thanked him for saving its life, it glittered on his palm.
Then, he noticed a plaque on the wall of the fountain.
It indicated that the garden had been built by a group of doctors many years ago to cheer up patients .
He remembered his father.
He lost his father when he was young.
He had been told by his mother that his father had been an admirable doctor who had saved many children .
He thought.
-There are kind people who wish for someone's happiness in any period.
-Those people pass on love to others through many generations.
-No matter how often we fall into despair, we may awaken love again and create happiness over sadness for the people who need it regardless of time or place.
-Humans should possess enough power to overcome anything.
-Humans shouldn't lose hope yet.
-In the same as there is no end nor perfection in art, hope may continue forever in the name of love..
In the early morning, she opened her eyes in his bed and was astonished to see something.
Blue, yellow, violet, and so on, a large number of roses were shining elegantly with morning dew beside her.
On the table, there was her locket pendant, polished neatly and repaired for her to make new memories.
-I'll always be by your side.
-Let's have a happy life together.
Said he in a kind voice.
She felt thankful to him and fixed her gaze upon him.
He started to play the piano elegantly.
It was so calm and beautiful that it soothed her soul.
Suddenly, she felt dejavu.
Her lover also used to play the piano for her when she was sick.
And, he had given her sweet words.
-'I'll always be by your side.'
-'Let's have a happy life together.'
Surprisingly, there was a framed photo of her when she was a human on the piano.
'Andrey..'
She murmured.
He was her old lover she had been missing for a long time.
The memory of happy days with him was coming back.
At that moment a miracle happened.
Suddenly, her body was wrapped by light and started to turn into a girl.
The power of the angel was resolving.
-I missed you, my love.
Said she in tears.
It was the same to him.
He was so shocked to see her.
-Nadia!
He cried out and ran toward her.
They embraced tightly in tears.
One year later,
the two of them were in front of the piano by the river.
The sun was setting down in the distance and a peaceful wind was blowing.
A bouquet of roses was laid on the piano.
He played the music he had written for her.
After that, he gave her a new locket pendant which contained photographs that represented their happiest memories.
Then they exchanged marriage rings.
They smiled happily and embraced each other tightly.
As such, the story ends.
